Exploring careers involves discovering your own interests, researching career options, planning, and goal setting. It's not the same as job searching. Job searching is a short-term pursuit of a position that matches your financial and career goals. Career exploration is a long, progressive process of choosing education, training, and jobs that fit your interests, values and skills.
Begin exploring by asking yourself a few questions:
- What are your career goals? Where would you like to be in a year? In five or ten years?
- What jobs and other opportunities will help you achieve those career goals?
- How do your interests and skills fit with your career goals?
